a long while back now when i lived in sheffield these guy came around and produced some great music:
Bare Knuckle Soul are a collection of poets, musicians and singers who met through the Sheffield music scene in 2002. They began work on a project rooted in and informed by the history of Groundbreaking black music, from Billie Holiday to Curtis Mayfield through The Specials and Fela Kuti ending somewhere around , D’Angelo, Soul II Soul and Outkast.

Omar Lye-Fook (born October 14, 1968 in London), also known as Omar, is an internationally acclaimed British soul singer, songwriter and musician. Born to a Chinese-Jamaican father. one of the best around, along with these others:

A true story based on the life of author Sonny Carson, a young black boy from the ghetto who struggles to overcome the crime and decadence of Brooklyn's inner city. The film chronicles Sonny's life through his years as an honor student in junior high school, his jail sentence for scamming a delivery boy out of money, and his life-changing experience after being released from prison.
Based on the autobiographical novel by Sonny Carson, this film traces the tragic descent of a talented young black teen from honor student to hardened criminal. Eventually imprisoned, he then has to cope with a racist and brutal police force.
