one of the best films ive watched lately

A true story based on the life of author Sonny Carson, a young black boy from the ghetto who struggles to overcome the crime and decadence of Brooklyn's inner city. The film chronicles Sonny's life through his years as an honor student in junior high school, his jail sentence for scamming a delivery boy out of money, and his life-changing experience after being released from prison.

Based on the autobiographical novel by Sonny Carson, this film traces the tragic descent of a talented young black teen from honor student to hardened criminal. Eventually imprisoned, he then has to cope with a racist and brutal police force.

the original break up songs..

Have you ever been sitting around your room after you have broken up with someone listening to the likes of snow patrol while you cry into your pillow?, well maybe if you have you should be ashamed of yourself. The original break up songs for me are songs which you can maybe angrily sing along too while crying and also dancing. i know your thinking that this cant actually be the case but it can if you have gems such as these in your record collection:

Instant funk, "crying'

a powerful song from Raymond Earl, Scotty Miller and guitarist Kim Miller. The kind of song that would scare any ex boyfriend as you would believe that if Raymond Earl saw your ex girlfriend crying then first of all he would take her out for a lobster dinner, then come and beat you up as his voice is slightly similar to teddy pendergrass who i believe just scared women into liking him!

Evelyn "Champagne" King - Betcha She Don't Love You 1982

Nowadays i dont think women are going to stalk her ex boyfriened and some other woman without killing the woman, the man or both.

Yarborough & Peoples "Dont Waste Your Time"

Another classic, your best friend is telling you your girlfriend is a whore but you wont believe it! 10 points if you know who the guy driving the car at the beginning is?

little gems

Prince Charles and the City Beat Band" recorded 3 albums [Gang War (1981)/ Stone Killers (1982)/ Combat Zone (1984)]. Charles fronted the group as the lead singer and multi instrumentalist. The futuristic wind synthesizer called the "Lyricon" was the instrument that made his brand of next generation p-funk unique. He looks as though he were a creation from the music video 'bad' and any 70s blaxploitation film.

Here is the genious of the Lyricon:

The lyricon enabled instrumentalists to control a synthesizer by playing a type of electronic saxophone, the synthesizer being contained in a wooden case. Using a form of additive synthesis. anyone who wants to start a cover band surely needs one of these.

Herbie Hancock

Sunlight is a 1977 Jazz-funk fusion album by keyboardist Herbie Hancock. Originally a UK import album, it features Hancock's vocals through a vocoder as well as performances by drummer Tony Williams and bassist Jaco Pastorius.
The album produced a UK single entitled "I Thought It Was You" which was mildly received at the time by jazz listeners. As a whole the album tends to lay more toward funk than a jazz record, and is reminiscent of much of the electro-funk of the time. one of my favourite songs on the album is this one "i thought it was you", which he produced using steven hawking like technology...

if i had hairs on my neck!!!!

You know there are times when you here a song or a voice and the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, well here is one of them. the jones girls were an outfit of sisters Brenda, Valorie and Shirley Jones. Who, needless to say have brought a little joy to my life with their great song "nights over egypt"...

a song that reminds me of childhood:
EWF "reasons"

a world renowed American R&B band led by Maurice White which was formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1969. They are known for a number of hit singles, including "Shining Star" and "September", and the band is also famous for its fusion of many genres of music into one unique sound.

vicent gallo and prog rock

Vincent Gallo may be best known as an actor in such cult movies as Buffalo 66 (for which he also served as director and writer), but he's also issued several albums over the years, both as a solo artist and as a member of such obscure outfits as Bohack. Born on April 11, 1962, in Buffalo, NY, Gallo began playing guitar in garage bands during the early '70s, during which time he developed an appreciation of both prog rock and proto-punk bands. Gallo did time in such obscure Buffalo-based outfits as the Blue Mood, Zephyr (no relation to the late-'60s rock band of the same name), and the Plastics, before relocating to New York City at the age of 16, and forming a group with soon-to-be renowned artist Jean Michel Basquiat called Gray. Although the group played regularly at such N.Y.C. hot spots as Max's Kansas City, CBGB's, Hurrahs, and the Mudd Club, the group split up before any recordings could be made.

Gallo found himself as part of such further outfits during the early '80s, including the one-man band the Nonsexuals, the rap duo Trouble Deuce, and the aforementioned Bohack; the latter being Gallo's first project to issue an album, 1983's It Took Several Wives. Upon the group's split-up shortly thereafter, Gallo turned his back on a musical career, and focused primarily on acting in movies; landing steady work as either an actor, director, or composer. After including several of his own original compositions on 1998's Buffalo 66 soundtrack, Gallo decided to give a musical career another shot, forming the group Bunny with guitarist Lucas Haas. Despite a successful Japanese tour and a debut album completed for Sony (with renowned Yes producer Eddie Offord overseeing the recording), the group split up, resulting in the shelving of the debut's release. After relocating to Los Angeles, Gallo began laying down solo demos at his home recording studio, which attracted the attention of Warp Records. The early 21st century saw the release of such critically acclaimed solo Gallo full-lengths as 2001's When and 2002's Recordings of Music for Film.

After watching the film Buffalo 66 i became obsessed with a band called king crimson, who are an English progressive rock band founded by guitarist Robert Fripp and drummer Michael Giles in 1969. After originally thinking that YES were the groundbreaking group of prog rock i realised that there are other bands who built the foundation with them, and king crimson was one of them. Producing haunting and moving music, such as "moonchild" which has been used here in a great scene of the film with Christina Ricci. If there is music in heaven i believe it may sound like this.

Among many of my heroes are the band YES. an English progressive rock band that formed in London in 1968. Their music is marked by sharp dynamic contrasts, extended song lengths, abstract lyrics, and a general showcasing of instrumental prowess. Yes blends symphonic and other 'classical' structures with their own brand of musical style. Band members are Chris Squire, Steve Howe and Alan White. Here is another song used by vincent gallo in buffalo 66, "heart of the sunrise", a typically long song but powerful non the less.

recent song choices i can't get out of my head

Throughout the eighties, the RAH Band never missed the British Dance Music Charts producing some five albums and numerous extra '12 inch' singles, most notably the international hit 'CLOUDS ACROSS THE MOON' in 1985 which was a smash hit around the world. I would like to bring you another tune that torments the fact that the people who like to say they are super talented because they make wishy washy music, This is how you make music:

The RAH Band was a fictitious studio based group (fictitious in that it was no group, it contained only him); RAH being the initials for Richard Anthony Hewson. In 1977 Hewson wrote an instrumental called "The Crunch", which was a huge success and climbed to number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. Hewson played all the musical instruments himself.
